A Rob Conyard hat-trick was the highlight of the Fenmen’s second pre-season friendly at Fountain Fresh Park this afternoon.
Wisbech had much the better of the first half and netted twice early, Matteo Perkins and Conyard finding the net. Perkins is an 18-year-old talent who has been a prolific scorer in youth football in the Peterborough area, including more than 100 goals last season.
Biggleswade reduced the arrears but Conyard added a second before the break. The Fenmen were well on top in the first half and might have added to their tally.
But Biggleswade looked a different side after the break. They reduced the arrears before Conyard completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot. The visitors continued to press and were rewarded with two goals in the last five minutes while they were down to 10 men, having had a player sinbinned for arguing after they were denied another penalty.
Another good workout for the Fenmen.
Wisbech: Congreve, Tuntulwana, Hart, Wallace, Briggs, Gulsko, Sarmaniuk, Murphy, Conyard, Jones, Perkins. Subs: Reed, Kacirek, Murkin, Kortua, Ashall, Howard.
The Fenmen are back in action when they entertain Eynesbury Rovers in another pre-season friendly on Tuesday
