The Fenmen visit Boston Town for a UCL Premier League North encounter on Tuesday and there are numerous links between the two clubs.
Several of their squad will be very familiar to Wisbech Town fans. No less than six have played for the Fenmen at one time or another. Luke Wilson was a stalwart in defence for a number of years. Other ex-Fenmen now turning out for the Poachers are Harry Limb, Fraser Bayliss, who was their leading scorer last season, Layton Maddison, Jordan Nuttell and Liam Adams.
Boston are managed by Martyn Bunce, who had a short spell assisting Dick Creasey at Wisbech some years ago.
The Poachers have begun the season in the league with a 2-0 defeat at Loughborough Students, a 2-2 draw at home to local rivals Deeping Rangers, a 3-1 victory over Hucknall, Maddison, Bayliss and Adams getting the goals, a 3-1 defeat at Lincoln Utd and most recently a 4-0 home win against Pinchbeck on Saturday.
In the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round they held Anstey Nomads, last season’s UCL Premier League North champions, to a 0-0 draw and lost the replay in Leicestershire in a penalty shootout, the match having finished 2-2 after extra time.
Striker Nuttell has begun the season well, scoring twice in the cup replay and also finding the net against Deeping.

Club History
Boston have had plenty of success over the years, winning several titles in different leagues and reaching the semi-final of the FA Vase.
Boston FC was started in 1963 by former officials of Boston United who were concerned that United's financial problems, which had led them to resign from the Midland League, would force them to fold. The club initially played at the Mayflower Sports Ground for a few months before moving to the current Tattershall Road ground. They joined the Lincolnshire League, winning it in their first season. Boston moved to the Central Alliance the following season, going on to win a second successive league title without losing a match.
In 1966 they joined the Eastern Counties League before moving to the Midland League in 1968/69. Boston won the Midland League in 1974/75 and reached the first round of the FA Cup in 1976/77, losing 3-1 at Barnsley. They won the league twice more, in 1978/79 and 1980/81.
Boston had spells in the North Counties East League and the Central Midlands League (champions in 1988/89). The club then entered the United Counties League Premier Division in 1991/92 and reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase in 1993/94, losing 2-0 on aggregate to Taunton Town.
In 1994 the club were renamed Boston Town and won the league in their first season under the new name. They won the UCL for a second time in 2000/01 and the league cup in 2003/04 and 2006/07.
The Tattershall Road ground has a capacity of 6,000, of which 450 are seated and 950 covered.
