UCL Premier Division North
Jon Challinor, 42 years young, netted twice to give Wisbech a much-needed win in this afternoon's local derby at Fountain Fresh Park.
Man-of-the-match Challinor, on loan from Stamford, secured the Fenmen's first league success since September 2 against a side fielding five former Wisbech players.
Wisbech took an early lead when impressive winger Andre Williams, making his first start since signing from Pinchbeck, crossed for Challinor to apply the finish.
But disaster struck within minutes when goalkeeper Dan George hit a back pass straight to Jordan Nuttell, who found the net with ease.
Boston came close to taking the lead but struck the post and George made up for his error with an excellent save before Williams once again crossed from the right and Challinor was there again to restore the Fenmen's lead.
Boston had most of the play in the second half as Wisbech fell back in defence. Sam Murphy was particularly impressive and Joe Reed once again showed that he is well capable of the step up to this level.
Boston pressed but the home defence held firm and George was on hand when they broke through.
Wisbech sealed victory in added on time when sub Rob Conyard converted a penalty after a foul in the area.
The Fenmen lost striker Michael Frew in the first half when he was taken to hospital with a badly gashed ankle.
Wisbech: George, Reed, Twite, Hart, Mattless (c), Murphy, Ward, Challinor, Frew, Wilson, A Williams. Subs used: Allen, O Williams, Conyard.
