The in-form Fenmen face one of their toughest tests of the season when they entertain title-chasing Lincoln Utd at Fountain Fresh Park on Saturday.
Lincoln, looking to bounce back after relegation from Step 4 last season, have lost just two of their 15 league matches and sit in second place in the UCL Premier Division North, five points behind leaders Sherwood Colliery having played two fewer games.
They lost their second match of the season, 2-0 at Sherwood in August, and were last beaten away to Eastwood CFC on September 30. The Fenmen lost 2-0 when they travelled to Lincoln’s Ashby Avenue ground in October.
The Whites are a free-scoring side but last Saturday they recorded a narrow 2-1 success at strugglers Hucknall Town. Matthew Cotton has hit 20 goals in just 18 matches, making him the league’s second highest scorer.
Lincoln are fighting for honours on two fronts having reached the fourth round of the FA Vase with a 2-1 win against Congleton Town, who were semi-finalists last season.
