The Fenmen crashed to title-chasing Lincoln Utd at Fountain Fresh Fark this afternoon, ultimately paying the price for a series of defensive errors.
But for 25 minutes in the first half they more than held their own and came within the width of the bar from taking the lead.
Wisbech fell behind after seven minutes when a speculative shot from the right somehow beat goalkeeper Dan George.
But the Fenmen hit back after 13 minutes. Amir Ward was fouled on the left and Joe Reed struck the free kick into the top corner.
Then Toby Allen's effort after good work by Andre Williams was cleared off the line and after 26 minutes Ethan Wilson produced a spectacular volley from 30 yards which crashed against the bar. It would have been goal of the season.
But it was downhill from then on. Lincoln regained the lead after 34 minutes and added a third from a corner after 43 minutes, with George at fault.
Within a minute it was 4-1, Lincoln scoring with a powerful shot from the edge of the box.
Wisbech made numerous substitutions but Lincoln cruised through the second half with the home side providing little threat. The Whites eventually added a fifth to complete a comprehensive victory against the disappointing Fenmen.
