The Fenmen will be aiming for another home success when they take on AFC Mansfield at Fountain Fresh Park on Saturday.
It has been a season of struggle for the Nottinghamshire side, who are 15th in the UCL Premier Division North with five wins and 19 points from 22 matches.
Mansfield, nicknamed The Bulls, suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Kimberley Miners Welfare last Saturday. Wisbech drew 3-3 at Mansfield in September, Chris Assombalonga netting twice and Toby Allen adding the third.
Leading scorers for Mansfield are Kaylum Mitchell with nine goals and McKenna Parton, who has netted eight times.
Team manager is Phil Buxton who is assisted by Joe Kearney.
Club history
AFC Mansfield were formed in June 2012 by three former directors of Mansfield Town after a series of management disputes. The new club competed in the Central Midlands League North Division, finishing runners-up in their first season and winning the division in 2013/14. This resulted in promotion to Division One of the Northern Counties East League.
Mansfield finished seventh in Division One in 2014/15 and the following season they finished runners-up, earning promotion to the Premier Division. They also competed in the FA Cup for the first time, losing 2–1 at South Normanton Athletic in the extra-preliminary round.
The 2017/18 season was perhaps the best in the club’s brief history, with The Bulls enjoying a lengthy FA Cup run and clinching promotion to the Northern Premier League East Division. In the cup they beat Hall Road Rangers, Quorn, Dunkirk and Rushall Olympic before being beaten by National League North Boston United in the third qualifying round.
