The Fenmen face a big test when they travel to Nottinghamshire to meet title-chasing Sherwood Colliery on Saturday.
Sherwood met title rivals Lincoln Utd on Tuesday and came away with a 2-0 win, which puts them top of UCL Premier Division North although Lincoln have a game in hand. The title appears to be a straight fight between the two clubs.
Sherwood won 3-0 when the teams met in September and the general view among Fenmen fans was that they were the best team seen at Fresh Fountain Park this season.
One of the Sherwood goals was scored by veteran striker Craig Westcarr, 38, who has been a prolific marksman for years. His tally so far this season is 22, making him second highest scorer in the division. Westcarr played in the Football League for Nottingham Forest, Notts County. Lincoln City, Chesterfield, Portsmouth, Walsall and Mansfield Town and was the youngest player to play for Forest when he made his first team debut in October, 2001, at the age of 16.
Free-scoring Sherwood have other goalscoring threats in Kieran Knight and Marley Grant, who have each found the net 14 times.
The Fenmen met Sherwood for the first time last season, winning 1-0 at home but losing 4-0 in the away match.
