The Fenmen return to Nottinghamshire on Saturday when they travel to take on Eastwood Community Football Club.
Eastwood CFC have yet to win in 2024, their last success being at home to AFC Mansfield on December 30. The poor run has seen them drop out of the play-off places and they are currently seventh with 38 points from 24 matches. Last week they drew 1-1 away to bottom club Hucknall Town.
Their twin threats up front are Kyle Tomlin, who has scored 19 goals so far this season, and Tyler Blake, who has found the net 17 times.
The club, nicknamed The Red Badgers, play on an artificial pitch at Coronation Park, which was the former home of Eastwood Town.
Last season brought mixed fortunes for Wisbech when the teams met. The Fenmen suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat in the away fixture in December but beat Eastwood 3-2 in the final match of the season at Fountain Fresh Park.
The teams will meet again a week on Saturday with Eastwood travelling to Wisbech for the return fixture.
Club History
The Red Badgers were formed in 2014 following the demise of Eastwood Town. They joined the South Division of the Central Midlands League and entered the FA Vase for the first time a year later.
Eastwood finished runners-up in the South Division in 2016/17 and won the league the following season, gaining promotion to the East Midlands Counties League.
In 2021 Eastwood were promoted to the UCL Premier Division North based on their results in the abandoned 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.
The club is owned by chairman Darryl Claypole and there are ambitious plans, with an academy due to be up and running next season.
