The Fenmen will be seeking swift revenge when they entertain Eastwood Community Football Club at Fountain Fresh Park on Saturday.
Wisbech lost 3-2 when they travelled to Eastwood last Saturday, the Nottinghamshire club’s first win of 2024.
The win moved The Red Badgers up to sixth place in the UCL Premier Division North while Wisbech remained in 12th place with 25 points.
Their twin threats up front are Kyle Tomlin, who has scored 19 goals so far this season, and Tyler Blake, who has found the net 17 times.
Last season brought mixed fortunes for Wisbech when the teams met. The Fenmen suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat in the away fixture in December but beat Eastwood 3-2 in the final match of the season at Fountain Fresh Park.
Club History
The Red Badgers were formed in 2014 following the demise of Eastwood Town. They joined the South Division of the Central Midlands League and entered the FA Vase for the first time a year later.
Eastwood finished runners-up in the South Division in 2016/17 and won the league the following season, gaining promotion to the East Midlands Counties League.
In 2021 Eastwood were promoted to the UCL Premier Division North based on their results in the abandoned 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.
The club is owned by chairman Darryl Claypole and there are ambitious plans, with an academy due to be up and running next season.
